Coming to a class

Yoga can be a great way to keep the body in shape. Yoga also helps to improve breathing, counteracts stress and makes us more aware of the factors that affect our moods. Self-observation is an important aspect of yoga practice. Acceptance of the body's limitations helps to keep safe while gently building up strength and stamina.

What you can expect from a yoga class
Each session will involve:
  • Postures – adopting physical positions, or ‘asanas’;

  • Postures with movement – moving in and out of asanas in a controlled way;

  • Linking breath with movement – focusing on the breath can influence how we accomplish movements and positions;

  • Adapting the posture to suit the person –asanas are modified and adapted according to each individual’s capability;

  • Involvement: each person is actively involved in their own practice and development.
